King's College Stabbing

King's College Stabbing - Friday, March 27, 2009 at 9:06PM EST

Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County -
It is a bright sunny spring day and things look quite normal on the campus of King’s College in Wilkes-Barre . But for some of these students the day is a bit different after the attack on two of their classmates. It happened just after 1:00 am . One student was stabbed with a metal object, another assaulted. They say four people in a late model chevy cavalier pulled up and two males jumped out and attacked them.

Students tell us they are keeping their eyes and ears open.

Lauren Lienert, a sophomore at King's College says, "It's kind of nerve racking when college students have to worry about walking around where we live. It’s very scary."

Kings College put out a campus wide alert cautioning students to be careful.

Dale Rinker, head of security at King's College says, "They need to use common sense. The students should be very cautious any time of the day or night and be aware of their surroundings. If at all possible walk in the lighted area walk with a friend or use the escort service if need be."

The college also offers students a security device like this. It looks like a pager but can help scare off attackers and alert others nearby. Dale adds, “It has a clip on the back or you can keep it in your purse. All you need to do to activate it is to pull the pin out. You hear “beep, beep, beep” then put the pin back in."

If you have any information about the attack call Wilkes-Barre police. The two victims were treated and released from the hospital.
