KINGSTON, LUZERNE COUNTY- Police cars from all over Luzerne County's west side surrounded Steve Hydock Diamonds in Kingston Monday morning.

Just before 10:00 A. M. the Wyoming Avenue jewelry store was robbed by two men. Kingston Police Chief Keith Keiper said, “I just talked to Mr. Hydock. He said they stuck a gun in his face and that's all he remembers seeing."

No one was hurt and nothing was taken. After the heist the two suspects took off on foot. One man was quickly caught just blocks away but police from four surrounding communities combed neighborhoods looking for the second man. Two guns were also recovered. “We got the description of two black males that ran west on Clover Street, towards Main Street, through the backyards," said Keiper.

Because of Monday morning's attempted armed robbery, customers who come to this jewelry store were turned away. All they saw was this sign on the door that said “CLOSED."

Sheila Brandon from Sweet Valley said, “I came to pay off my wedding rings and I see the store is closed. It’s a long drive and waste of gas, so I'll have to come back."

The name of the one suspect in custody has not yet been released. He is currently undergoing questioning and police expect to charge him sometime Monday night.
