LCCC/Moses in Court

LCCC/Moses in Court - Thursday, November 13, 2008 at 8:18PM EST

Thursday, Nov 13, 2008 @ 08:18pm EST

Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County -

Investigators say Peter Moses abused his power and stole money from the Luzerne County Community College . Today Eyewitness News learned that several people that worked with him suspected that he was a thief.

Peter Moses left court Thursday moments after being told he will stand trial for allegedly stealing some $17,000 dollars from the cafeteria at L. C.C. C. He was an associate dean at the college. Two of the people who worked under Moses at the cafeteria testified they were suspicious of Moses from as far back as 2005. Sheldon Owens, is the man in the blue coat, and was cafeteria manager. Galena Brusulosky prepared the food. They said they made a calendar and marked the days when Moses would take the cash deposits to the business office. This is the same days investigators say that cash never made it to the office.

Brusulosky also testified that one day a deposit bag in the safe went missing and that Moses was the only person in the cafeteria office at the time. Investigators also say that two computers that were connected to the cafeteria cash register and under the control of Moses simply vanished when this investigation began.

Prosecutors say all of the evidence points to Moses. Mike Melnick, the Assistant District attorney says, “This is money used to help kids go to college so we are going to get to the bottom of every last penny."

Defense lawyers argue there are too many other people who had access to the missing money. Bill Ruzzo the defense lawyer says, “Who took the money, when was the money taken, who had custody of the money, I think that's the question to look into. Either somebody took that money or Luzerne County Community College was lax in their system. In light of recent events L. C.C. C. administration is not Harvard or Yale."
