DICKSON CITY, LACKAWANNA COUNTY

Lackawanna County's Voter Registration Office has been conducting a series of training sessions for people who will be working the polls on Primary Election Day. The first classes are designed to reach the County's 163 Judges of Election.

The County is using a paper ballot system for the Primary. It's similar to the system used in last November's General Election. But, unlike the General Election, the votes cast during the Primary will be counted at each polling place.

The County will be using its 4th voting system in the past two years. It scrapped its old lever type voting machines two years ago in favor of an electronic touch screen system. That system was decertified leading to the use of paper ballots last fall. Counting problems caused by the use of a central counting facility prompted the decision to count the ballots at each polling place.
