A long day of counting votes in Lackawanna County comes to an end.
2 candidates, Mike Washo and Cory O’Brien declare victory, 1 commissioner seat is still undecided.
85% of precincts reported as of 6 o’clock Tuesday night.
Vote counting could still go through the night.
Robert Cordero and A.J. Munchak are vying for the last seat.
Their race is too close to tell Tuesday night.
Washo and O’Brien declared victory from the St. Mary Center in Scranton.
That’s where the paper votes are being tabulated.
Washo and O’Brien said they plan to put taxpayers first, and work on keeping the
Yankees in Scranton as top priorities.
The Lackawanna County Republican Party filed a petition to challenge the results.
On Friday, a hearing will be held at the Lackawanna County Courthouse in Scranton.
There, it will be decided if certain precincts will be recounted by hand.
As it stands right now, Washo and O’Brien are winning by nearly a 2 to 1 margin over Cordero and Munchak. | |
