NEWTON TOWNSHIP, LACKAWANNA COUNTY -- A Lackawanna County home has heavy damage after a fierce fire. It broke out Saturday afternoon around 3:30 near Clarks Summit.
Eyewitness News found fire crews working to save the home in Newton Township along the 1600 block of Summit Lake Road. Most of damage is to the rear of the house.
Kevin Sebring, his wife and their 4-children, all 10-years-old or younger, were not injured.
The Red Cross was also on the scene providing food and clothing. The Sebring family will stay with relatives for now.
Firefighters believe an electrical problem sparked the flames.
"The homeowner found some outlets not working in the living room, went to flip the breaker back on and the breaker was tripped," said Newton Ransom Fire Company Assistant Chief Dan Mielo. "Flipped the breaker back on and the lamp cord started to burn and caught the curtains on fire and it extended from there."
The Red Cross was also on the scene providing food and clothing. The Sebring family will stay with relatives for now. | |
