She's a 52 year old mom, award-winning quilter, and the owner of Joancheck Research--doing market and industry research. Now, Joan Radell can add 'Jeopardy contestant' to her list of accomplishments.
"I've always been the annoying person at the cocktail party with the little trivia fact about everything. And its something I've always wanted to do. jeopardy gets the best of the best and i wanted to go head to head and see how i stacked up," says Joan.
Getting on the game show has been years in the making.
"I took the test for the first time in the mid 90's and idn't pass it. I was humbled. And then I took the online test in 2007, got called for an audition, and a few days before the audition, I fell and I broke my nose, elbow and wrist. I couldn't drive, I couldn't go. "
She took another test for the show last year and in the fall, got a call she was in.
Her 20 year old daughter, Laine says, "If you don't succeed the first time or the second time, keep doing it and you're gonna get it, which is the greatest motivation for anything."
Laine says hr mom has played and hosted on-line trivia games for years.
But that wasn't the subject of chat time when jeopardy host Alex Trebeck talked with Joan on the show.
It was her China collection--fit for 140 people.
Her winnings ended up paying for her travel accomodations and gave her some spending money. But the time on the show, was priceless. | |
