WILKES-BARRE TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY -- People packed into Party City here early Saturday afternoon.
"I'm doing last-minute picking up for tonight, for me and the kids," said Robin Smith-Proctor of Wilkes-Barre. She had three costumes down, two to go. "My older son is going to be Michael Meyers, and I'm going to be some type of fairy, something with wings."
Jessica Hartman made the drive from Berwick. She picked her costume by process of elimination.
"I'm a Roman empress," laughed Hartman. "Nobody knows what it is, but it's the last thing they had."
Many shoppers said it felt more like Black Friday or Christmas Eve shopping.
"It's absolutely getting bigger every year," said Sal Diaz of Duryea.
We asked Hartman if she learned a lesson this Halloween.
"Yes. Next year," she said, "I'm going to shop two months early to make sure I have something to wear."
Or she'll be fighting a crowd like the ones we saw at Party City once again. | |
