STROUDSBURG, MONROE COUNTY- The mild weather earlier in the week is a reminder that back-to-school season is almost upon us. But one after-school program in the Poconos isn't sure it's ready.
Donations are down for the Stroudsburg YMCA's Latchkey program. It offers afternoon care for kids whose parents commute to work.
Matt Rumph of the Pocono Family YMCA said, "Unfortunately they leave at six in the morning and they don't get back here until six at night."
Organizers say the costs of the program outweigh its profits. But a national department store is helping out. J-C Penney's is donation money to the "Y" through its "Round UIp" program. It rounds up your total to the nearest dollar. That extra change goes to the YMCA. | |
