CLINTON TWP., LYCOMING COUNTY- A lightning strike may be the cause of a fire in Lycoming County early Tuesday morning.

Smoke started to come out of a first floor wall in a home along Pinchtown Road in Clinton Township just before 6:30 A. M. That was just after an intense thunderstorm moved through the area.

Fire Chief Todd Winder says the smoke spread with flames later coming from an attic wall. The two-story house, which was built in the 1800s, has damage in excess of $100,000.

Two people living inside the home called 9-1-1, then evacuated. They were unharmed.

A State Police Fire Marshal will be at the scene Wednesday to determine if lightning did indeed spark this fire.
