AVOCA, LUZERNE COUNTY- The Wilkes-Barre / Scranton International Airport is bound to be busy the next several days. And from commuters to high-ranking officials with the Federal Aviation Administration and the airlines, many don't expect airports around the country to be a pretty sight.

President Bush even stepped into discussion Thursday to ensure holiday air travel maintains some form of order. The president is calling for tough measures to keep airlines on the go.

For the moment, travel is a breeze at the airport in Avoca. Travelers told WBRE News their trips were smooth and without incident. There seem to be no headaches ahead of forecast tough holiday travel.

Most say they beat trouble by managing the clock: they say arriving early is how you avoid agitation at the gate.

With the dawn of the nation's busiest travel week looming, there's widespread panic a repeat of disastrous wait times will happen, both in airports and inside airplanes on the tarmac.

"Airlines have agreed to make more staff available to expedite check-in and boarding, set aside extra seats and extra planes," President Bush said at a news conference Thursday addressing the expected travel troubles.

Most agree it's time for airlines to pay attention to the customer.
