Local Anti-Abortion Activists Protest in Washington, D.C. - Friday, January 22, 2010 at 1:03PM EST

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY - Tens of thousands of anti-abortion activists converged on Washington, D. C. on Friday.

Protesters who gathered in Scranton before heading to the nation's capitol said the annual March For Life is especially important this year because the health care reform bill includes abortion funding. "I think it's time that the silent majority finally stood up and said, 'enough'."

That's what Gordon Clifford of Susquehanna Depot said early Friday morning as people boarded buses at the Keyser Oak Shopping Center. They were bound for the 37th annual March For Life.

They wanted to take a stand on the anniversary of Roe Versus Wade -- the Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion. "I think there's a revolution going on in this country," said Helen Gohsler, the President of the Scranton chapter of Pennsylvanians For Human Life. "We have more buses this year than we have ever had."

Five buses filled up with people of all ages -- everyone from children to teen-agers to people of retirement age. "And if the president can't honestly look out of his window and see all these people marching and realize we don't want his policies. We don't want abortion," said Rosemary Clifford of Susquehanna Depot.

Not all of the pro-life supporters who made the trip are of voting age, but they say regardless, it's important to make their voice heard. "There are so many people who go to this march under the age of 18. And the more people that are there, the more our voice is going to be heard," said Scranton High School junior Sara Brezinski who took off from school to take an anti-abortion stand.

So did West Scranton High School sophomores and best friends Dalaila Ortiz and Amber Way. "We want no more abortions," said Ortiz.

"Abortion is wrong and I just want people to know that, like, you're killing a baby and some people think it's not real but it is," said Way."

It's a message they want Washington to hear loud and clear.
