Wyoming, Luzerne County -
“It will never change. There is always going to be a love with cars anytime. I don’t have a doubt. I look out the window and I don't see any horses that restore my faith in the automobile industry." Steve Morenko of Motor Twins in Wyoming knows a few things about selling cars. He has been doing it for nearly 60 years. He says people should not panic. “Well, temporarily they're hypnotized by the buyout bailout. Whatever has slowed things down a little bit. There's still plenty of credit out there for people who want to buy cars." Morenko says the last time it was this slow was in the 70's during a recession and gas rationing was in place. “Hysteria is the right answer. They are scared off after today's vote. It will settle down. People will buy cars when they want to buy.”
Pat Debalso of Debalso Ford in Kingston agrees. He says he too has seen slow sales, but is optimistic. Good deals are on these lots. "Manufactuers are stepping up zero percent funding. There are excellent rebates and a good financial package to benefit the customer."
Morenko and Debalso say, in many ways, people scare themselves away from buying things they need or want. But hope this bailout will calm some of those consumer fears.
