MOUNTAIN TOP, LUZERNE COUNTY -- A family who lost everything in a fire wants to give back to the people who helped them get back on their feet.
The Krout family in Wright Township lost their home, their vehicles and everything they own in a devastating Black Friday fire. Chris Krout is a volunteer firefighter and the community and fire departments nationwide came to the aid of the family of four through donations.
Now the Krouts have set up their own donation drive for flood victims in Tennessee. Laura Krout says the people hit by flooding aren't getting the attention they deserve. "These people really were overlooked they did not get the support that I feel that they should've gotten," she said.
The Krouts have about a dozen donation drop-off boxes throughout the area. They're looking for personal hygiene and cleaning items. They also set-up a fund at the Cross Valley Credit Union in Mountain Top.
Heres where you can drop off donations:
Wright Twp Fire Department 5/17 6-10PM, 5/19 4-7PM, 5/24 6-10PM, 5/28 4-7PM
