Local Reaction to Potential Mail Delivery Cutbacks
Local Reaction to Potential Mail Delivery Cutbacks - Thursday, January 29, 2009 at 5:44PM EST
HONESDALE, WAYNE COUNTY- If you thought mail delivery was already slow, just wait, it may get worse according to the Post Office.
Postmaster General John Potter says the U. S. Post Office could be forced to cut one day of mail delivery per week. Potter says the dwindling mail volume and rising costs put the post office almost $3-billion in the red last year.
The Postal Service is asking Congress to relieve them of the required 6-day delivery week.
Eyewitness News talked to some folks stopping in the Honesdale Post Office. Some said they would be okay with mail service only 5 days a week. Others weren t so keen on the idea. | |
