Local Students Getting First-Hand Inauguration Lesson - Monday, January 19, 2009 at 9:35PM EST
WASHINGTON, DC- A lot of local people are in our nation's capitol for the inauguration of Barack Obama as the 44th President of the United States.
Eyewitness News was in Washington Sunday and caught up with students from Scranton High School. They'll be in the crowd Tuesday as Obama is sworn into office.
Sean Curry, the students’ social studies teacher, organized the trip last April. "We wanted them to see Washington, D. C. at its best. It’s a great tour of the city to see how it works. This could instill life long practices in civics and politics," says Curry.
Many of the students say they're excited to witness the inauguration of the first African American president. | |
