SWIFTWATER, MONROE COUNTY - A major vaccine maker has released the most recent clinical results of its Swine Flu Vaccine tests.

That vaccine is produced at Sanofi Pasteur in Swifwater, Monroe County. It's part of the french Company Sanofi Aventis.

Sanofi Pasteur employees are working overtime to rush the H1N! vaccine to the public. Sanofi Pasteur CEO Wayne Pisano said, "The team on this sight has been working 24 hours a day seven days a week since May." He added that some employees skipped family vacations to get the vaccine out as fast as possible.

Dr. David Greenburg is in charge of scientific and medical affairs at Sanofi Pasteur. He said, "The disease is wide spread throughout the United States at levels generally not seen until February with Seasonal Influenza Disease."

Dr. Greenberg just finished clinical trials of the vaccine. His results showed a single dose is effective in adults and children under nine need two doses. He added, "There were no vaccine related serious adverse events, no vaccine related diagnoses of chronic illness and no deaths."

Sanofi officials said they know the vaccine is safe but they don't know exactly when there will be enough made for everyone who wants it. Sanofi Aventis CEO Chris Viehlbacher said, "We're talking about Mother Nature here. You've got to grow the vaccine."

Safety is also an issue. Eighty five percent of a vaccine's production time is spent on safety issues. Pisano said, "It's absolutely critical that what comes out of this facility is a vaccine that is highly effective and very safe."

Officials insist their H1N1 Flu vaccines are just as safe as their seasonal flu vaccine.
