SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY

Area Logistics and Transportation Companies joined a job fair at Johnson College to help them in their search for workers.

Officials at the college say the area's proximity to the Interstate highway system is attracting companies that are in need of people trained in logistics and transportation. Lisa Nat of Valley Distributing and Storage Company in Wilkes-Barre said companies like hers are in need of people for positions such as fork lift operators, diesel mechanics, truck drivers, and customer service representatives among others.

Johnson College offers several courses in the Logistics and Transportation fields. It's Diesel Mechanic Program, for instance, has a 100% placement rate according to a school spokesperson.

An additional Logistics and Transportation Job Fair is scheduled for May 29th at Luzerne County Community College in Nanticoke.
