Williamsport, Lycoming County-
A husband and wife from Lycoming County were honored as heroes in Williamsport Monday.
Michael and Janet Raker were presented with a key to the city. It was for their role in protecting a child police say was kidnapped by his father.
Johnnie Drummond knocked on the Rakers door after crashing his car on their property. He was trying to escape from police. The Rakers fed and protected the boy until police arrived to arrest Drummond.
Michael Raker, of Gamble Township, said, "When somebody comes to your house, in a situation like that, the first thing on both myself and my wife's mind, is to take care of the people, and that's what we proceeded to do."
Williamsport's mayor also proclaimed today as Michael and Janet Raker Day in the city. | |
