Lycoming County Man Faces Child Porn Charges

Lycoming County Man Faces Child Porn Charges - Thursday, January 15, 2009 at 5:10PM EST

Muncy Creek Township, Lycoming County-

A Muncy Creek Township man faces up to 40 charges after police found child pornography on his home computer.

News of the charges shocked this quiet community.

25-year-old Joshua Finck had little to say as he was led into a preliminary hearing in Muncy Thursday afternoon.

State police say an undercover investigation into the sharing of child pornography on the internet led them to Finck.

Police served a search warrant at Finck’s apartment here in Muncy Creek Township, during which they seized several pieces of computer equipment.

They found ten movie files containing images of underage children engaged in illegal sexual acts.

Bonnie Laidacker, of Muncy, noted, “It’s a shock to know that there’s someone that close by, but, you know, it could be right next door, you could be living right beside them and not even know it.”

Finck waived his preliminary hearing Wednesday afternoon. His lawyer is working on a plea agreement with the district attorney’s office.

That agreement would consolidate the 40 charges into one count each of possession of child pornography, dissemination of unlawful media, and criminal use of a communication facility.

People here want law enforcement to send a clear message to criminals who access child pornography, and keep neighbors informed when those crimes are committed.

Laidacker said, “Send it out in the mail, in the paper, on the TV, or something. We need to be warned, because our children are the most important thing in the world. You know, we have to watch out for them.”

Finck was sent back to Lycoming County Prison following Wednesday afternoon’s hearing.

He is scheduled to be in court again for a formal arraignment on February 23rd. Finck’s lawyer hopes to have reached a plea agreement by then.
