WESTERN AFGHANISTAN - A Lycoming County native was among those who died Monday in Afghanistan during one of the deadliest days for Americans.

Chad Michael, 30, of Miami, died when his helicopter crashed leaving the scene of a fire fight with suspected Taliban drug traffickers.

The Hughesville graduate was a D. E.A. agent.

He was deployed to Afghanistan about a month and a half ago on a special mission to assist U. S. troops combat drug trafficking.

He was among seven U. S. servicemen and three government agents who were killed.

Michael will be brought back to Hughesville to be laid to rest.
