EXETER, LUZERNE COUNTY- There's been another confirmed case of "the MRSA" Staph Infection in our area, this time in Luzerne County.
The Wyoming Area School District Superintendent, Dr. Ray Bernardi confirmed Monday Night, that an elementary student , was infected about 3 weeks ago. The parents notified Dr.Bernardi about the case over the weekend. Dr.Bernardi told us Monday Night, that the student was treated with antibiotics and has been cured.. that student has returned to class.
As a precaution, he has called an informational meeting for this Wednesday at 6:30 pm at the Secondary Center in Exeter to talk about the situation and most of all dis-spell any rumors.
Dr. Bernardi also tells WBRE News an infectious disease expert will be at that meeting to answer questions. He has also been in contact with the state health department.
Dr. Bernardi says he has also ordered that all schools be sanitized to clear out any possible virus. Dr. Bernardio says this is an isolated case.
Again, that public meeting is this Wednesday at 6:30. | |
