Mail & Ambulance Problems in Noxen
Mail & Ambulance Problems in Noxen - Saturday, December 20, 2008 at 10:15PM EST
NOXEN, WYOMING COUNTY- People are rallying to keep their post office. The original Noxen post office was destroyed in the flooding of June, 2006. Since then, they've been operating out of a trailer.
Now the United States Postal Service wants to close that one down. Cathie Pauley says, "It’s been two and a half years. They gave us that little winnebago, which was also supposed to be temporary, and now they want to shut that down. No!"
If the Noxen post office is closed down, people would have to drive to Harvey’s Lake to get their mail.
And Noxen isn't only having post office trouble, but it also ambulance problems. The Noxen Volunteer Ambulance Association is broke and in danger of losing their truck.
Right now the company owes over $75,000 on the truck. They've asked for a loan from the township but no decision has been made.
One possible solution is for Noxen to pay neighboring Kunkle for ambulance service. | |
