MATAMORAS, PIKE COUNTY- A man is locked up accused of killing his wife in the Poconos.

It happened in Matamoras, Pike County just after 1:00 P.M. State Police say 72-year-old William Dilger shot his wife 69-year-old Barbara Ann Dilger.

Troopers at the Blooming Grove barracks say the first call for help came to the Matamoras Police Chief Eric Stewart for a shooting at the Dilger home on "Avenue P."

The chief went to the home and found Mrs. Dilger dead in the bedroom. He later learned that Mr. Dilger allegedly shot her with a rifle.

He's locked up without bail at the Pike County Prison.
