WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY -- A Luzerne County man who planned to kill himself but survived a fiery explosion that caused a million dollars in damage and affected hundreds of people was in court this morning.

David Lamoreaux, who lost an eye and hand in the blast, pleaded guilty to arson, risking a catastrophe and endangering property. The charges stem from the Exeter explosion in August, 2009. It damaged dozens of nearby homes and JFK Elementary.

He'll be sentenced at a later date. He faces a maximum of 50 years behind bars.
