CLINTON TOWNSHIP, WAYNE COUNTY - A trailer home is in shambles after an early morning fire in Wayne County.
It happened Wednesday morning just before 3 o'clock in the Waymart area.
A father of two was home alone sleeping when flames began.
And thanks to a working smoke detector and some quick thinking, he survived the devastating fire.

A narrow window area may have been the difference between life and death in Clinton Township.
27-year-old Ryan Clemo climbed out his burning trailer home on Burns Road when he heard a smoke detector in the middle of the night.
"The owner, or occupant, of the building escaped with minor injuries all things considered," said Browndale Fire Company Chief Ronald Richards.
"Yes, he's okay. He has a cut on his arm and he got stitches," said Clemo's sister, Mandy Starbuck.

The fire scene is in a remote area of Wayne County with narrow roads -- a bad combination for any hopes crews had of limiting the damage.
"Anytime you deal with fire in a trailer or mobile home certainly fire can spread rapidly as you can see by the damage inside here," said Chief Richards.

A bike appears spared among the fire debris. Clemo's 7-year-old son and 2-year-old daughter weren't in the trailer when fire hit.
"His estranged wife had his children tonight and they are safe," said Starbuck. "Most of the damage would have been in his son's room and he's fine thank goodness."

Lost in the fire, dozens and dozens of trophies Clemo won in demolition derby competitions.
"Close to 100 trophies in the house that were his pride and joy that he worked very hard for over many years to accomplish and get them. And that's devastating that he lost them all but he'll win more," said Starbuck.

And Clemo's family knows, despite all the damage, they're grateful he woke up just in time and escaped the only way he could.
"Whatever he lost here, we'll build it up," said Starbuck. "I'm going to take him out today and buy him some clothes. And he's strong. We'll pull through this."

Clemo was treated and released at Marian Community Hospital in Carbondale.
A state police fire marshal was already on the scene Wednesday morning looking for what caused the trailer fire.
