DUNMORE, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- A Scranton man is facing charges accused of making false reports to the police.

Investigators said 26-year-old Carlos Reales called 911 on Sunday to report a carjacking at the Big Lots parking lot in Dunmore. Reales told police three men confronted him at gunpoint, fired a shot, then forced him out of the car and took off with it. He claimed he ran home and waited before calling police.

When faced with some inconsistencies in his story, police said Reales admitted that the car was actually stolen while he was gambling at Mohegan Sun.

He told officers he had lost money and was afraid to tell his girlfriend.
