PLYMOUTH, LUZERNE COUNTY- There were some tense moments Saturday evening in part of Luzerne County. Some people living along Church Street in Plymouth were told to evacuate their homes.
Police found a man making a pipe bomb inside a home at 118 Church Street around 6:30. Streets around the area were shut-down and people in several homes on either side of 118 Church fled the neighborhood.
Police also warned others in the area to stay indoors. The borough police chief tells us what was found. "It was PVC plastic pipe with end caps on it. Also, with a fuse attached to it. Speaking to the suspect, he did fill this item with black powder," said Chief Myles Collins.
Police also confiscated 2 rifles from the home and a handgun. No one was hurt during the ordeal.
Police say the suspect admitted making the pipe bomb because his wife was mad over not having any plans for the 4th of July.
Investigators aren't releasing the man's name this hour. He's expected to be charged during the night with risking a catastrophe, reckless endangerment and making an explosive device. | |
