(WILKES-BARRE, Luzerne County)
52-year-old Miguel Abreu is dying of prostate and liver cancer, but on Wednesday there was no way around his sentencing date with a judge.

The admitted double murderer arrived nearly an hour late to court, but soon learned he'll serve a total of six to 12 years in prison, for the October 2006 shooting deaths of Willy Rodriguez Junior of New Jersey and Jose Pacheco-Flores.

Willy Rodriguez, Sr. spoke with our news crews about the loss of his son, "6 to 12 years is too little. He's (Miguel Abreu) a delinquent and a menace to society."

Providencia Cordero is Willy Rodriguez Jr.'s Mother, She wailed in court for her dead son, "I'm alleviated, my heart feels better." One of the victims, 45-year-old Pacheco-Flores is the cousin of Miguel Abreu.

Natalie Abreu is the daughter of Miguel, "Jose Pacheco-Flores is our cousin, he's family. And we are very sorry for what happened, but you should help your family when they are alive."

Police say Abreu fired more than three dozen shots into a car, carrying both victims one year ago. It happened at the corner of Layfette Court and West Fourth Street.

Cordero responded, "I cry everyday, I cry everyday for my son. My soul is broken."

Willy Rodriguez Jr., leaves behind a 10-year-old daughter and 20 month old son Damian. His girlfriend spoke with WBRE-TV, Jeannette Pimenel, "He'll never get to know who Willy was, but I will tell him. I have a tough task ahead, but I'll do it."

Visibly upset, Abreu's family say they are satisfied with this sentence. Abreu's daughter Natalie says her father was stalked by both victims and had to defend himself, Natalie Abreu added, " We had three months house arrest with him, so we got to spend a lot of time with him them. It's fine, he only has a month to live.

Abreu is expected to die in prison. He was immediately remanded to the prison in Waymart and will be transferred to Camp Hill, where he will be able to receive cancer treatment.

There is no word yet, whether Abreu and his Attorney Joseph Yeager will file an appeal.
