POCONO PINES, MONROE COUNTY - There was extra security on hand for a preliminary hearing in Pocono Pines Thursday. It was a hearing for Dheklan John. He's accused of shooting four people at a Halloween Party in Long Pond.
As his mother, Bridgette Marshall, walked into court she screamed at police, "You're not doing a good job!" She also yelled, "They're always [expletive] targeting minority and black kids! Why?"
The shooting happened at Kenny Nero's home in the Emerald Lakes Community. He said, "It was so stupid. You understand what I'm saying? So stupid on his behalf?"
Nero hosted the party for his son and other students from Pocono Mountain West High School. He told us Dheklan John was not invited. He said, "Everything was so nice until he came there."
Nero testified that when he escorted John out of the house John said 'I'll be back.' Just a short time later he saidJohn came back and fired his gun.
But John's attorney Brett Riegel said, "Dheklan John didn't do this."
About twenty people showed up to support John in court. Robert Dickson said, "It's completely and totally untrue. It's all false." Ronald Walker said, "Two of my cousins were shot and they know it wasn't Dheklan because he helped them."
One of John's supporters was arrested outside of court. Police say they had a warrant out for Joseph Crossdale. They believe he helped John make up a fake alibi. Chris Wagner from The Pocono Mountain Regional Police said, "We have been able to establish that it is not correct."
The judge decided there was enough evidence to send all the charges against John to court. A trial date was not set. He remains behind bars in lieu of $250,000 bail. | |
