JERMYN, LACKAWANNA COUNTY -- A man will go to trial for brutally beating a young toddler.

After a preliminary hearing a judge found there was enough evidence for Jorge Reyes to go to trial.

Reyes is accused of beating 20-month-old Faith Larson inside a Jermyn home earlier this year. The baby suffered extensive injuries. She had a fractured skull and broken ribs.

Doctors testified at today's court hearing. Assistant District Attorney Gene Talerico said, “There's no question the injuries in this case were extraordinarily significant. To hear what this little girl had to go through and the amount of force necessary to inflict them, it’s very difficult, very difficult, so we're pleased to move forward onto court and onto trial."

No trial date has been set. One charge of making terroristic threats was dropped by prosecutors this afternoon.
