He made his resignation announcement Friday, but Monday, U.S. Attorney Thomas Marino talked about his decision in person.

According to Marino, it wasn't a tough decision to make.

At the federal building in Scranton, he said he has no regrets in serving as U.S. attorney, but the time is right to move on.

United States Attorney Thomas Marino reflects on the job he's held for the past 5 years.

Marino says, "it's been an honor and it's been on of the highlights of my life."

The federal prosecutor will step down next month.

He says it's time to devote more time to his family.

"it's bittersweet, but i have several opportunities to provide better for my family," says Marino.

Opportunities he says are too good to pass up.

Marino started his career as a private attorney, from 1988 to 1996.

He plans to return to the private sector, but hasn't decided where.

Marino says, "it's time to move on. I've been thinking about this for a year and a half."

Marino was the Lycoming County District Attorney from 1992 to 2002.

Then it was on to the u-s department of justice when he was named a U-S attorney.

He calls the appointment the high point in his career.

"i will remember this 5 years as long as I live."

Marino's last day as a U.S. attorney is October 12th.

He says he'll take a few weeks off with his family before deciding where he'll work next.
