With a number of long-time state congressmen retiring, there will be plenty of new faces on the ballot this fall.
Eyewitness News caught up with one of them- a man who hopes to replace retiring 107th District Representative Robert Belfanti.
Many of those new faces on the November ballot-including Republican Kurt Masser- will be touting their ability to bring new ideas and a fresh start to the state legislature.
Masser has spent the past six years serving as a Northumberland County commissioner.
He's also the owner of a small business, and says job creation would be a top priority if he's elected.
Masser lays claim to being a fiscal conservative and vows to reign in government spending.
He says he got into politics because he was fed up with the status quo.
Masser explained, "You can either stand up and do something and throw your hat in the ring. Or you can just stand on the sidelines and be angry and yell. I chose to get involved. I thought I could bring something to Northumberland County and I think I've done that."
Opposing Masser in November will be Coal Township Supervisor George Zalar, who won the Democratic primary.
Zalar couldn't be reached Wednesday for his comments on the race.
We'll continue trying to catch up with him and bring you his views in the very near future. | |
