SWIFTWATER, MONROE COUNTY -- He lost his life saving a 9-year-old boy. Now a special memorial has been unveiled for State Trooper Joshua Miller.

Trooper Miller was shot to death after a high speed chase in Monroe County. State police are making sure his heroic actions are never forgotten.

We live in the land of the free and the home of the brave --- thanks in part to people like State Trooper Joshua Miller. Troop Commander Captain James Murtin said, "Hopefully he's up there and he's looking down."

Trooper Miller died while protecting a young boy in June. On Wednesday Miller's friends, family and fellow troopers honored him. "It's a somber moment but a fitting tribute to our hero Josh Miller,Ó said Murtin.

Troopers unrelieved a memorial to Miller at his barracks in Swiftwater Wednesday. "Being the humble person that he is he wouldn't have went for this but hopefully we bring a smile to his face as he looks over us,Ó said Murtin.

Tow truck company owner Bob Bolus donated the memorial. "I just thought it was important that people really remember what goes on when they're out on the road," said Bolus.

Bolus told us he worked with Miller often. He called the trooper a great man who deserved to be honored. "I thought it was important to have something other than just a plaque on the wall. But something that's perpetual," he added.

Trooper Miller's widow Angela and the couple's three children appreciate the memorial. Captain James Murtin gave Angela her own small memorial to take home. "She is so appreciative of the outpouring of support, not only from the State Police but also from the citizens of Pennsylvania as well," added Murtin.

ItŐs well deserved support for the family of a man who followed the call of honor and "gave his life rather than swerve from the path of duty."

It looks like Pennsylvanians will continue to honor Josh. Some lawmakers have proposed naming the section of Route 611 where he died in his honor.
