WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY- The three men who were told by a Luzerne County judge to learn English or go to jail are being deported.

The men, Rafael Guzman-Mateo, Ricardo Dominguez and Luis Reyes, were convicted of an armed assault and robbery in Hazleton in 2007. Judge Peter Paul Olszweski sentenced the men to 24 months in jail, but released them on the condition they learn English.

It turns out that immigration officials moved in since the men are "documented resident aliens” and cannot stay in the U. S. if they have criminal convictions.
