SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- Mercy Hospital in Scranton continues to get top honors for its cardiovascular services.
For the forth straight year, Mercy has been ranked in the nation's top 100 hospitals by Thomson Health Care, an organization that examines the performance of nearly 1,000 hospitals that offer cardiac surgery.
Those facilities are evaluated each year because of constant changes in technology in the cardiovascular field.
Cardiac Services Director James Craven said, "It's a big honor. I mean in the state of Pennsylvania this year, there's eight hospitals. Only two other hospitals have gotten it 4 times in a row. So we're very pleased and its a tribute to the physicians here, the nursing staff and the long time experience that our staff has here in cardiovascular services."
It's estimated that mercy offers cardiac services to more than 2,500 patients each year.
