Mifflinburg, Union County-
A long-standing central Pennsylvania holiday tradition is back for another year in Union County.
Mifflinburg’s Christkindl Market, or Christ Child Market, is believed to be one of the oldest in the country.
The market features all kinds of authentic German food and drink, music, hand-made crafts and other items.
We found more than 90 vendors setting up shop Thursday afternoon.
New this year will be a showcase of expensive hand bells available for the public to try.
Co-chair Joannah Skucek noted, “This is going to be the cheapest evening you can have. It doesn’t cost anything. We ask for a $2 donation, but all the entertainment is free of charge.”
Mifflinburg’s Christkindl Market starts Thursday night and runs all day Friday and Saturday. Organizers expect more than 12,000 people to attend the three-day event. | |
