JENKINS TWP., LUZERNE COUNTY -- All week long the Pittston Police are "going to bat" for Miles For Michael - a local organization dedicated to helping families with travel related expenses for cancer patients.

"Miles For Michael" got its start by an Avoca man suffering from cancer a few years ago. Michael Joyce wanted to give back to other families suffering like his.

Michael began an annual walk "Miles For Michael" 4 years ago. Sadly, Michael Joyce then passed away from cancer. His family & friends have held "Miles for Michael" events each year since then.

This year, the Pittston Police jumped aboard with their annual softball tournament. That tournament is now in progress at the Jenkins Twp. Little League field off of May Street in Jenkins Twp.

The softball tournament, along with this year's "Miles For Michael" memorial walk, & a day of fun-filled family activities will take place Saturday (September 5th) from 10 AM to 5 PM at the Jenkins Twp. Little League field.
