A Mountain Top woman wants to bring a little piece of home to our servicemen and women.
Kate Gabriele is a private chef and even has her own show at Mohegan Sun.
Her new project is a special book.
Returning to friends, family and home cooked meals is what chef Gabriele hopes to capture in her new book.
"It's a great cross section of America . It really represents what we're all about, food and love and family," said Gabriele.
Gabriele is creating a military cookbook.
She's asking servicemen and women to share their family’s favorite recipes, the ones our troops miss when their serving overseas.
"We're over there with them. It's not just them over there, everybody's hearts are over there with them," said Gabriele.
By filling out a form online and submitting a picture, military families can be part of this book.
But Chef Kate needs your help to make this happen.
Gabriele hopes to have about 100 recipes by the first of next year and she hopes to launch this book by July 4th of next year.
When the book hits the stands, Gabriele will donate a portion of sales to charity.
She's eyeing one that caters to children of servicemen and women.
"It's the little ones that are missing out. You know, mom and dad are over there and they're back here with us but their hearts are over there," said Gabriele.
