Millard Gets 3-6 Years in Prison

Millard Gets 3-6 Years in Prison - Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at 5:24PM EST

Williamsport, Lycoming County-
A Wyoming County man was sentenced after pleading guilty to killing his father and a friend while driving drunk.

A judge sentenced 36-year-old Isaac Millard of Meshoppen Tuesday afternoon. Three to six years in prison along with five years of probation is the penalty Millard will pay for that crash back in June of this year.

He must also complete alcohol counseling and community service.

Investigators say Millard’s blood alcohol content was .11 on the night of June 24th. That's when they say he lost control of his car and drove off a 30 foot embankment near Route 15 in Cogan House Township.

Killed in the crash were Isaac's father, Leslie Millard, and family friend, Ryan Downs. Millard ran from the crash scene and was found a short time later at a nearby residence.

Police records show he has a history of underage drinking, DUI's, and license suspensions.

Millard has apologized to both families and says no punishment could be worse than the grief he feels for his actions.

There was, however, a bit of courtroom drama when Millard said he was considering revoking his guilty plea.

He explained that he believes if PennDOT had placed a barrier in front of the embankment, it might have prevented the two deaths.

But after consulting with his public defender, Millard decided to accept his sentence.
