Milton, Northumberland County-

A Milton man will go to trial on charges he stole money from two charitable organizations in Northumberland County.

Police estimate Dale Kriner swiped about $10,000 while serving as treasurer of the Milton High School Alumni Association.

Kriner told police he sent the money to a man he met on the Internet who claimed to be stuck in Nigeria.

Kriner waived his right to a preliminary hearing in Milton Thursday.

Milton High School Alumni Association President Michael Longenberger said, "It's kind of a wakeup call to all volunteer organizations in the community, that we can be trusting, but at the same time we must be vigilant about the public’s funds."

Police allege the 61-year-old Kriner also stole money while serving as chairman of the Milton Harvest Festival. They expect to file those charges in the near future.
