SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY-The Scranton School for the Deaf hosted a very special guest Wednesday evening, Chelsa Tobin, Miss Deaf America.
She performed a skit as "Cat in the Hat" with the students and then talked with them about her accomplishments as Miss Deaf America.
Tobin is from South Dakota and is a college student.
She says she learned a lot from this visit and Scranton School for the Deaf principal, Martin Keller.
Chelsea told WBRE-TV through an Interpreter
"the Scranton State School for the Deaf uses a dual language approach with ASL and English that's a wonderful way to educate deaf students I’d like to become a teacher myself in the future so I was learning a lot form Martin Keller in terms of what Scranton School for the Deaf offers the deaf community in Pennsylvania"
School officials say Tobin is a very positive role model for the students. | |
