MOCANAQUA, LUZERNE COUNTY- The State Police Special Emergency Response Team surrounded St. Mary's Park in Mocanaqua Friday afternoon into the evening.
They were trying to negotiate with a man who had a gun at the park which is located off Lee Road.
Eyewitness News was kept far away from the park.
We know at least one gunshot was heard.
Troopers were also yelling for "someone to put down a gun."
State police troopers in Shickshinny have not made any official comment about what exactly was going on.
Park caretaker John Novelli told Eyewitness News at around 2:00 he went to check on the park like he normally does.
That's when he saw police.
Novelli said some of the officers had their guns drawn and there was a "car" behind a blue storage building.
Novelli said, "When I saw the car in the back, over there, I thought it was a hunter but then I saw the cops. They had their guns. And I thought it must be something else than a hunter."
