EAST STROUDSBURG, MONROE COUNTY - One man is in the hospital and another is in prison after an attempted homicide in Monroe County.
Police say a fight, that lead to a stabbing started at a home on Lackawanna Avenue in East Stroudsburg. The people who lived there declined to comment but neighbors spoke to Eyewitness news. Eddie Gribbins lives next door. He said the problem started at about nine Wednesday night. He explained, "We heard just screaming outside."
Police say the screaming was an argument over a woman. Stroud Area Regional Police Captain William Parrish said, "I don't know if you want to call it a domestic - but a love triangle."
Apparently the victim, Joseph Womble, came to the house to talk to William Robinson about a female friend. "Mr. Robinson actually had a knife on him," said Parrish.
According to arrest papers Womble saw Robinson had a knife so he ran across the street but tripped on some rocks. Police say Robinson caught up with him and stabbed him. As Womble tried to get up, officers said Robinson stabbed him again and screamed 'I'm going to kill you.'"
Gribbin added, "Then all of a sudden cops out of no where - just started coming out of anywhere - an ambulance came down." Police arrested Robinson. An ambulance took Womble to the hospital. He had suffered several stab wounds. Parrish said, "His arms, legs, the most serious was a slash to the head."
Robinson is scheduled to face a court hearing next week.
Police say Womble is in intensive care at Pocono Medical Center.
