PENNSDALE, LYCOMING COUNTY - Construction for more stores is underway next to the
Lycoming Mall in Pennsdale. According to
officials, earth is now being moved to make way for 350,000 square feet of retail
space that will include a Target store.
WBRE News spoke with Developer Jeff Camp and he tells
us that, in addition, to the Target store, there will also be a Bed, Bath &
Beyond, a Petco, a Ross, Michael's and Circuit City
will relocate there from their current space. In addition, Grizzly Industrial is building a 200,000
square foot warehouse. Grizzly's General
Manager Rick Romberg says that the store draws people regularly from
metropolitan areas making Pennsdale a prime location. "It's actually the largest wood and
metal working showroom in the United States and we wanted to be on a good retail campus," said
Romberg.
Both large and small businesses near the construction
site are hoping the new stores will boost the local economy. Kim Miller from the Fort Muncy Garden Center said, "I think it's going to be very good for
the businesses around here. It will
attract more people to the area and I don't see where it can hurt things." Romberg added, "The other development that is
going on around us here is only going to help Grizzly because we complement a
lot of the other retail facilities."
Camp says stores will open
in July 2008. | |
