More Large Brush Fires Burning in Luzerne Co. - Saturday, April 25, 2009 at 6:45PM EST
MOUNTAIN TOP, LUZERNE COUNTY- Some 100 firefighters are battling flames in the summer-like heat in two wooded areas of Luzerne County.
Flames are scorching part of Penobscot Mountain and also near Oliver Mills in Pine Creek Valley. District Forester Nick Lylo told Eyewitness News, "We have no estimate on the acreage at this time, but they are large operational fire at this time."
Crews are using bulldozers and air tankers to try and get the upper hand. Additional firefighters are also coming in from Sullivan County to help battle the brush fires in Luzerne County.
Another fire is burning in Laurel Run and buildings are in danger. | | |
