SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- U.S. Senators Arlen Specter and Bob Casey have announced $811,570 in Federal funding to help develop the new Commonwealth Medical College in Scranton.
Additionally, the senators along with Congressman Paul Kanjorski, announced $42.6 million in medical reimbursements to area hospitals.
The medical college is scheduled to open next year.
For the first two years it will be located in Lackawanna College while arrangements are made to build at a permanent location.
An Anatomy Lab is already being constructed in Lackawanna College.
Approximately 60 students are expected to be enrolled in the first class at the new medical college. | |
