WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY -- A Larksville woman accused of hiding heroin in her baby's diaper during a traffic stop is headed to trial.

Kayla Culver waived her right to a preliminary hearing Tuesday morning. She didn't answer any questions coming out of Luzerne County Central Court.

Moments after she was taken away by state police, Culver's mother defends her daughter. Culver's mother said, She's my daughter yes I will support her. I know that she did a very bad thing but she did not put those drugs on that baby as was reported."

Police say Culver bought heroin on Amber Lane in Wilkes-Barre back on April 7th. She drove away with Robert Cunningham, also of Larksville. Police pulled Culver over and searched her car while Culver held her baby.

According to the police report Culver was told to put her baby back into the car. That's when the investigator says she was looking a little suspicious so he searched the diaper and police say 30 packets of heroin were found inside.

Police say they found 60 packets total on Culver, the baby, and Cunningham. Culver pinned the blame on Cunningham, saying he put the heroin in the diaper.

She waived her preliminary hearing and will head to trial on child endangerment and a slew of drug charges. Culver's bail was set at $20,000.
