POCONO PINES - Cindy Lacey wiped away tears and cried, "I will never get my son back."
Michael Lacey brought music to his parents' world. Last August Kathy Rogan killed their song.
"I watched my son die and she shows absolutely no remorse and nothing that they can do to her will ever be enough," sobbed Cindy.
Police say Rogan drifted out of her land and smashed into Michael's car. He died just over an hour later, at only 18 years old.
Cindy said, "It's been a living hell, a living hell."
Rogan told an officer she snorted cocaine earlier that day. Her lawyer Jeff Velander argued that might not be true. He said, "The policeman said that she said that - I'm not entirely sure that's the case either."
Rogan refused to talk with WBRE News and she has yet to talk to the Lacey family. Michael was a talented musician and Valedictorian at Pocono Mountain West High School. To his mother he was so much more.
"He made everybody smile, everybody happy, he was the light of my life. He was fabulous," said Cindy.
Now Michael's family does the best they can to comfort each other and listen for his music in their dreams. "My only time that's good is when I sleep and dream about him. Then I wake up and realize every day that the dreams are better than reality," cried Cindy.
Thursday a judge decided there is enough evidence to send Rogan's case to trial. She is out of prison on $25,000 bail. A trial date has not yet been set. | | |
