NEW MILFORD, SUSQUEHANNA COUNTY -- A mother here tells us she found hundreds of text messages between her 14-year-old daughter and a teacher. She spoke exclusively with Eyewitness News about what she calls inappropriate contact.

We first told you two weeks ago about the investigation into the Blue Ridge High School teacher. He's not been charged, but the superintendent confirms the investigation.

The mother learned in late August that her daughter and a teacher were text messaging.

"I did take her phone to do some investigating," said the concerned mother, who contacted the school district and police, then asked her cell phone company for records. "My guess would be that there was a few hundred over a two-week period."

She says messages came as late as 1am. The teacher has been an educator for years, and this mother is concerned her daughter's not alone.

"I just want to make sure our children are protected, that they're in a safe environment," she said.

She says students have threatened her daughter, because the well-liked teacher could lose his job. She's even more upset over what she says district teachers did last Friday.

"All the teachers in the school district went to school in black in support of him," says the mother. "But if they were to know the details, I think they'd have a different outlook on things."

The Blue Ridge Superintendent, Chris Dyer, confirms a teacher is under investigation. He says the teacher is not working in the district at this time. The district is waiting for the results of the police investigation before moving forward. He added that the district adamantly supports any student who faces a challenge in their life.

"She's very smart. She's in gifted," said the mother. "She has so much potential, and I just hope this doesn't negatively impact her."
